Press Release: Tree Planting Activity at Perseverance Primary School marks the International Day of Forests.

Celebrated on the 21st of March, the International Day of Forests is a global observance to emphasize the importance of forests and also trees outside forests. This year's theme is to raise awareness of how forests are essential to the earth’s supply of freshwater.

To mark the annual event the Forestry Section of the Ministry of Environment, Energy and Climate Change organized a tree planting activity at the Perserverance Primary School on that day. The event included a short presentation by the staff of the Ministry of Environment whereby the children from the Primary School deepened their knowledge about the usefulness of forests and trees.

The Tree Planting Activity was launched by the Principal Secretary of Environment Mr. Alain  DeComarmond whereby 40 plants were expected to be planted in the school compound. " Bois Tab", "Bonnen Kare", "Bois Nap" and "Latanier Fey"; these four different plants which requires low maintenance will benefit the school in multiple ways.

The students from the Primary and Creche Perserverance School were the focus of the activity as they planted trees around their compound with the help of the invitees, teachers and staff of the Ministry of Environment, Energy and Climate Change.
