Press Release: Environment and Water Management, Sustainable Development highly discussed  between Seychelles and United Arabs Emirates

The Minister for Environment and Energy Prof Rolph Payet has met and discussed further areas of cooperation between UAE and Seychelles, with the Vice President and Prime Minister, His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The meetings were held during the PAGE- Partnership for Action on Green Economy- Global Conference which Dubai hosted on the 4th and 5th of March. The session hosted under the patronage of His Highness, was held under the theme Green Economy for Sustainable Development.
Minister Payet, who represented Seychelles at the conference,  also held discussions with Dr. Rashid Ahmed Bin Fahad, UAE Minister for Environment and  Water,  where the possibility of more exchanges and cooperation in the fields of environment and renewable energy were explored.
The main objectives of the two days event were to act on the Rio+20 Outcomes, take stock of best practices and lessons learned advancing green economy, share this knowledge through interactive thematic sessions geared toward developing a set of general principles and policy recommendations and explore the multiple pathways and partnerships, including PAGE, available to countries as they lead these transitions within their national contexts.
Other participants included Ministers from developed and developing countries, senior officials from the United Nations agencies, including the United Nations Environment Programme, UNEP,  Executive Director Achim Steiner.

The Partnership for Action on Green Economy (PAGE) drives a multi- stakeholder and participatory approach to create inclusive, sustainable societies. PAGE seeks to:
•    Enable countries to formulate and adopt green economy policies;
•    Strengthen the capacity of national partners to finance and implement inclusive green economy initiatives;
•    Develop and provide global access to tools and training programmes on green economy;
•    Create and share knowledge on green economy to support its application at country-level.
